Maarten van der Valk is a professional allround freelance musician. As a timpanist, percussionist
and drummer he has been active in both the Dutch and the international music scene for over fourty
years now.
His main band is the ‘Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century’, founded and conducted by Frans
Brüggen. As a timpanist with this orchestra Maarten has been performing at all major Dutch- and
international concert halls since April 1984. So far they have toured a 109 times and recorded over 70
cd’s.

Furthermore Maarten performs and tours with many other outstanding ensembles from all over the world. In the Netherlands of course, but even more frequent in other countries throughout the world, such as Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Switserland, Austria, Italy, the USA and Japan. (see CV)
Up to now he has participated on over a 150 cd-recordings with these various ensembles.
In 1999 he recorded his solo album 'Touch' on which all his favorites can be heard.
